In our last post , we gave a brief introduction to Emerald Dental Surgery and only got to state a few of the dental services offered at our facility in Nairobi’s Hurlingham area. Here is more information about some of the procedures that you can get done at the facility.
Over time, teeth can get discolored due to a number of reasons for example aging, drinking dark fluids such as black coffee or not taking good care of your teeth. Teeth whitening, therefore, is the brightening of teeth to remove stains and discoloration. Teeth whitening has become very popular and is mostly a cosmetic procedure. It is not a one time procedure so one needs to keep up the visits to a dentist to maintain the brightness. At Emerald Dental Surgery we know the importance of a confident smile. We help you achieve that beautiful smile to boost your self-esteem and improve the quality of your life.
Tooth filling is a restorative treatment that involves the removal of the damaged and decayed parts of a tooth and filling it with a material that acts as a replacement in order to keep the tooth protected from further damage. The filling also restores the tooth’s appearance and function. The replacement used in filling can be made from three materials. They could either be made from silver amalgam( grey filling), resin composites ( white/tooth colored filling) or even gold. At Emerald Dental Surgery, we are committed to ensuring you get the tooth filling properly done so that you won’t have to keep going back to the dentist.
Braces/ Tooth Alignment
Improper alignment of your teeth affects the tooth and jaw function. At Emerald Dental Surgery, we love what we do and that includes helping you get your teeth properly aligned so that you get that beautiful smile and experience minimal wear and tear on your joints, jaw bones and teeth. There are many benefits of aligning your teeth aside from getting that beautiful smile you long for, including that it makes it easier for you to floss and even brush your teeth. It also prevents traumatic injuries to the teeth. You know what that means, less oral health problems and visits to the dentist.
Root Canal Treatment
Everybody dreads the mention of the words “root canal.” This is a treatment that involves elimination of bacteria from the infected root canal. It is done to prevent reinfection of the tooth. It is also a procedure done to save one’s natural tooth. At Emerald Dental Surgery, you can get a root canal done whereby we will carefully remove the inflamed pulp, clean and disinfect the inside of your tooth, fill and seal it appropriately. We would love to help you solve the problem and eliminate the pain that comes with root canal problems.
Treatment of Gum Disease
Unfortunately, everybody is at risk of getting gum disease especially past the age of thirty. Gum disease could actually lead to loss of teeth among adults. In order to either prevent or have it treated at its early stages, you should visit your dentist regularly or as soon as you suspect you have the condition. At Emerald Dental Surgery, we take care of your gums and ensure the symptoms of gum disease do not advance. We also offer treatment for gum disease at a more advanced stage.
They refer to replacements that are custom made for teeth that are missing. They can easily be taken out and also put back into one’s mouth. It is important to note that once put, they will not feel exactly like one’s real teeth and could take some time to get used to. Luckily, the ones available these days are comfortable and look more natural compared to the ones that were there in the past. Our dentists have experience in working to give you the dentures you need for that great smile.
Crowns and Bridges
Crowns and bridges are prosthetic devices that are fixed. They are cemented onto existing teeth or implants. For you to have them removed, you have to go to a dentist. They cover up a damaged tooth completely. At Emerald Dental Surgery, our specialists can help you in getting your damaged toot strengthened and improving its appearance through placing of crowns and bridges. So another way of looking at it is, crowns and bridges are an option for replacing one’s missing teeth through permanently fixing the prosthesis on one’s jaw. That way, they fill the gaps that have been left after teeth have been lost.
They are metal frames or posts that are, through a surgical procedure, positioned in one’s jaw bone, beneath the gums. Once our dentists have done this procedure, they can either mount or replace teeth into them. Dental implants usually feel very natural and function just like real teeth so no need to worry. After the procedure is done, you can go back to your natural face shape and smile. Therefore, implants are also an option in case you want to replace your missing teeth.
Dental veneers are also called porcelain veneers. At Emerald, this procedure is done to help you resolve certain cosmetic problems. There are a variety of such problems. Maybe you have crooked or cracked teeth, a damaged enamel and gaps in between two teeth that can easily be noticed or even discolored teeth. The veneers are then used in bonding of the teeth using a type of dental adhesive.
Our specialists at Emerald Dental Surgery also carry out masking procedures. This is whereby a thin layer of white filling material is placed over one’s natural tooth. It gives the tooth that desired white color. This procedure could involve a bit of trimming on the natural tooth in order for it to accommodate the layer of filling that is being placed over it. His procedure is carried out in order to improve the overall appearance of one’s teeth.
Tooth Extraction/ Disimpaction
Extraction is usually the last treatment option done by a dentist whereby a tooth is removed under local anesthesia. Disimpaction is the removal of the last molar, otherwise known as the wisdom teeth. Although permanent teeth were meant to last one a lifetime, it is understandable that certain factors could compel one to have them extracted. We are here for you in case you need to have this procedure done
